Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is hard but living an unhealthy lifestyle is harder.  Life is harder when people ignore their health. Being unhealthy takes a toll on a person’s life. Eventually all those unhealthy decisions accumulate into health issues.

When a person is not healthy, it can negatively impact daily living as well down time. It can be more exhausting and taxing to do things such as yard work, run errands, or clean the house. A family vacation going to the beach, hiking, or walking around a theme park can end up feeling more painful and exhausting when someone isn’t physically healthy. People don’t have to feel drained in day to day living and should enjoy as much of their free time as possible. Disease doesn’t have to exist for a person to be unhealthy.

Unhealthy comes in different shapes & sizes. It’s not a matter of living an extreme lifestyle nor does it mean never enjoying some of the things that you love on occasion. Some things need to be enjoyed in moderation and others limited to special occasions. Unless there are a specific health issues that cause a problem, living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy things like cake on your birthday, a cup of coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine with friends on occasion. Enjoy the occasional holiday or birthday treat. Do not make every day into a holiday or birthday.

One dessert won’t cause a person to be overweight nor will one salad make a person an ideal weight. Just like working out once won’t make a person fit but taking a rest day won’t make a person unfit.

There is so much that goes into a person’s health. Good health comes from a lifestyle of eating healthy, exercising the body, exercising the mind, making time for self-care, mindful practices, and appropriate social relationships. Not everyone has to go to the gym every day. It could be a matter of walking around one’s neighborhood for 10 minutes a few times during the week, following a yoga video on YouTube, or dancing in one’s room. Just move some and respect your body’s limits. A balanced diet is important. With air fryers, instant pots, pre-made health meals in supermarkets, and different prepared food delivery services, there are different options that make food preparation easier. With all the different apps available people can challenge their mind with word or number games as well as relax to a guided meditation. The possibilities are endless.

Another way to contribute to one’s health is through routine acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture along with complementary therapies treat not only specific health problems but address the entire body. Side effects include relaxation, decreased inflammation, regulation of hormones, improved immune system, better sleep, and so much more. Acupuncture treats the entire body and doesn’t just mask symptoms. The treatments build upon each other to resolve health issues and can then be used to help with health maintenance.

Instead of pretending that being unhealthy is just as hard or easier than a healthy lifestyle, think how your body feels when you engage in various activities. Do what you can to invest in your health to make your life easier, so you can be a healthier and happier you.
